Canaan's sire is Prime Plus One, a superb male who took a 2nd at the 2000 World Futurity, was 2nd of 32 twice at the Ag. Festival 2000 double show and qualified for both the 2000 Western Regional and the 2000 Grand Nationals.

Papa Noel, Canaan's grandsire, has won championships too numerous to list but for example, the ALSA Western Regional Get of Sire, four years in a row. Both of the above sires are owned by Tillman Llamas in Oregon.
